mindful MATERIALS launched the beta version of its new Portal, portal.mindfulmaterials.com, and digitized CMF at the 20th annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, Nov. 2 in San Francisco.
“The energy and excitement for the launch of our new portal have been incredible.”
Annie Bevan, CEO, mindful MATERIALS
“The energy and excitement for the launch of our new portal have been incredible,” said Annie Bevan, CEO of mindful MATERIALS. “It is amazing to see the industry rally behind a common definition of sustainable products and support the concept of centralized data. This has been a need within the industry for quite some time, and I’m so proud of the mM staff, Board of Directors, Ecomedes, Toxnot, all the volunteer efforts, and many others who helped make this launch possible.”
mM is collaborating with technology leader Ecomedes, Inc. to power this new Portal and digitize the Common Materials Framework (CMF). mM is also facilitating a collaborative network of ecosystem partners to build out critical data points to populate the CMF. This will enable a streamlined approach to manufacturer data management into the Portal via tools such as Toxnot PBC and Health Product Declaration Collaborative’s Builder, EC3, and others. Together, these measures are designed to activate product sustainability data globally, ultimately allowing for benchmarking and reduction of the holistic embodied impacts of buildings through more mindful materials decisions.
“We’re incredibly proud to help build solutions for mindful MATERIALS to bring the Common Materials Framework to life digitally.”
Kathleen Egan, CEO, Ecomedes, Inc.
“We’re incredibly proud to help build solutions for mindful MATERIALS to bring the Common Materials Framework to life digitally,” says Kathleen Egan, CEO of Ecomedes, Inc. Egan, Ecomedes Chief Innovation Officer Paul Shahriari, Brightworks’ Jack Dinning, Toxnot’s Pete Girard, and Bevan spoke at the launch events held in Greenbuild’s Networking Lounge.
Through the beta Portal, users can do the following immediately:
+ See version one of the digitized CMF
+ Get clarity into how the digitized CMF is structured
+ Search over 300,000 products by impact areas aligned with the Materials Pledges
+ Sort products easily: alphabetically, impact score, popularity, etc.
+ Compare two or more product listings quickly
+ Save products to a project
… plus much more. Tutorials coming soon!
mM is asking its manufacturer and user partners to share feedback on the beta Portal as well as version one of the CMF. Users can do so by clicking the Feedback link on the homepage of the Portal.
“The Portal and digitized Framework lay the groundwork for critical ecosystem alignment for the first time — finally allowing users to begin searching for materials by certifications and by impact,” said Bevan. “For leading firms and companies, this is the foundation that allows for future functionality like project scoring and ESG metrics; for organizations new to this space, this foundation will clarify the roadmap for product sustainability and make it easier to get started and understand materials’ impacts. Together, we’ve accomplished a major milestone on the path to a new age of the sustainable materials movement. Click around, give feedback, and think about how to best incorporate this common language into your workflows now and into the future — we want to hear about it!”
