MORTARR WORLD HEADQUARTERS

BY: MORTARR STAFF CREATORS

When Mortarr decided to renovate an almost 100-year-old bank building in the heart of downtown Albert Lea, Minnesota, for their new headquarters, they turned to two of the things they hold dear — the local community and Mortarr.

“We sourced our design inspiration, found pros we wanted to work with, and the perfect products for our space - from lighting to furniture - all on Mortarr,” says Amy Petersen, co-founder + Chief Relationship Officer. “Our general contractor, Red Door Construction, and many of the pros we worked with are Albert Lea-based and we were so honored to support local businesses during our project.“

The company’s new HQ seamlessly blends the building’s traditional elements with modern design and high-tech touches. Mortarr currently occupies the first floor and mezzanine level of the four-story building, originally built in 1922. Large windows and a skylight allow for ample natural lighting throughout both. A variety of work stations, including private offices, small and large meeting rooms, cubicles and standing workstations encompass the first floor and provide flexibility for Mortarr’s 24 employees.

Mortarr transformed the building’s original bank vault, located on the first floor, into lounge space and a Mother’s Room. The mezzanine level, where you’re welcomed by a wall mural of Petersen’s pug, Birdie, includes a large meeting room and soft seating area. The company’s core values, and beloved quotes, are hung throughout both floors.

“Our new headquarters perfectly illustrates why we created Mortarr,” says Abby Murray, co-founder + Chief Marketing Officer. “Regardless of where you are located, you should be able to source, and have access to, beautiful inspiration and the pros and brands behind it.”
